Key Responsibilities for the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer:

  • Perform routine and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems, including conveyors, shredders, balers, and other recycling machinery.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is operating at peak efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including work completed, parts used, and time spent.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment upgrades.

Requirements for the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, ideally within a recycling, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing heavy industrial machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and safe work practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds) preferred.
